In this guide we’ll show you how you can add a Live Chat Channel to your Chaty widget
Little about Chaty: Chaty is a website chat widget that allows businesses to engage with customers through over 20 messaging platforms, including WhatsApp, Messenger, Telegram, and more. It provides features like customizable chat buttons, multiple agent support, advanced targeting, analytics integration, and lead-capturing contact forms. Users can personalize the chat interface, track interactions, and create custom channels to enhance communication. Chaty integrates seamlessly with all platforms, making customer engagement easy across multiple channels.
With that being said, let’s dive in!
Step 1: Start by opening your Chaty dashboard and click on Widgets. Click on edit next to the widget you wish to edit.
or if you haven’t created any widgets yet, then click on Create Widget
Step 2: On the first step which is Channels, click on Add Live Chat
Step 3: Click “Add Live Chat” button in the popup
Note: If you are using a platform for which we have a dedicated Chatway app like Shopify, Wix, Bigcommerce etc. then clicking on “Add Live Chat” button will take you to relevant Chatway app
Step 4: Since Chaty uses Chatway to provide the Live Chat functionality, you will be directed to Chatway onboarding steps where you need to provide the information asked to create your Chatway account.
You will be asked to add your name, password, customize Chatway widget, invite agent if you want, and select the Chatway plan to complete the setup.
Once it’s done, you will see a Popup which will allow you to connect Chatway with your platform.
Note: You can check our dedicated Chatway Installation Help Center for instructions on installing and setting up Chatway on your platform. You can do this after following the steps present ahead.
If you install the Chatway app then there is no need to add the script manually to your website. The app will take care of it.
Step 5: You will see a popup where you can select the placement of the Live Chat icon. You can change it anything you want. In this guide, we will select the middle option to show the Live Chat icon as one of Chaty’s channels.
Step 6: Now you will start seeing the Live Chat channel in the list of available and already added channels.
Step 7: There are many customizable options you get to style the icon as per your liking. You can change the icon by using pre-added images, or you can upload your own. You can also change the viewing method, change the hover text, and also the icon’s background color.
Step 8: After making all the customizations, click on the “Save Widget” button, and now when you will check your website, you will see the Live Chat icon inside the Chaty widget.
