This guide will show you how to create multiple Chaty widgets for different use cases.
Chaty provides your website visitors with a simple click-to-chat connection to all of the platforms where you’re available in a single widget, making it easier for your customers to find you and increasing your chances of conversions and sales.
Chaty works with over 20 commonly used channels, including phone, email, WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, Instagram, Telegram, Twitter, TikTok, Slack, Skype, Vkontakt, Viber, SMS, LinkedIn, Google Maps, Line, WeChat, Snapchat, Waze, Poptin, and custom channels.
Show different widgets for every language
Let’s start with how to show different widgets for every language if you have a multi-language site.
For this example, let’s assume the website for another language has a URL extension of /es and the full URL looks like https://chaty.app/es.
Let’s go ahead and create the widget for this language and use the Page Targeting feature to show it only on the pages that start the URL with https://chaty.app/es.
Step 1: Open your Chaty app dashboard and click on “Widgets“. Then click the “New Widget” button to create another widget.
Step 2: Enter a widget name and your domain name then click “Start Creating“.
Step 3: Once you have added Channels and configured them, we can proceed to “Step 3: Triggers and targeting“.
Step 4: Scroll down and look for Targeting Rules. Then click “Add Rule” under “Show on Pages“.
Step 5: To add the rule, click “Show“, Select Rule “pages starting with” and in the Link field enter “/es“. This rule shows the Chaty widget on all the pages that start with “chaty.app/es”. For example, chaty.app/es/about-us, chaty.app/es/contact-us, and so on. Don’t forget to click “Save Widget” to save your work.
Step 6: After creating the second language widget and adding the correct page targeting rules, we also need to update the page targeting rules on the default language widget to make sure that it will not show on other language pages. To do this, go back to your Dashboard and click “Edit” next to the Default Language widget.
Step 7: Let’s go straight ahead to “3: Triggers and targeting” and add the rule “Don’t show” – Select Rule “pages starting with” – Link “/es“.
You can follow the same steps for adding another language. You just need to make sure that you enter the correct URL extension on the “Link” field.
Show different widgets for Desktop and Mobile devices
In this guide, we’ll create a separate Chaty widget for Desktop and Mobile. By doing this, you can select what channel icons to show, customization, and widget behavior.
Step 1: Create the first widget that you will only show on the desktop. Click on the Edit button to start adding channels.
Step 2: After adding channels, you can see the desktop and mobile icons on each channel. Click on the mobile icons to hide it and will then be grayed out like the image below. Don’t forget to hit Save Widget.
Step 3: Create a separate Chaty widget for mobile and do the same steps but click the desktop icon to hide it instead of mobile.
By creating a separate Chaty widget for desktop and mobile, you can also customize each channel. For example, showing different Whatsapp numbers and different Chaty widget behaviors.
How to Create Different Widgets for Different Products or Pages
In this guide, we’ll show you how to create different Chaty widgets for different products.
This is helpful when you want to set up a different widget for your products like shoes, clothes, and accessories.
For this guide, we’ll create individual widgets for each category. Let’s just use shoes, clothes, and accessories as examples.
Step 1: After creating the widget and configuring the channels, let’s set up the Page Targeting.
Step 2: Add the rule “Show” – Select Rule “Pages that contain” – enter “shoes” in the Link field.
This rule will only show the Chaty widget on the page that has the “shoes” word in the URL.
Step 3: Create new widgets and do the same steps for clothes and accessories. Just change the text in the Link field.
You will then have three widgets that only show on their corresponding page rules.
You can continue adding more widgets or adding rules like showing a widget only on a specific product or page. For this case, use the “a specific page” for Select Rule and enter the full URL in the Link field of the page where you want the widget to show. After hitting Save Widget, the full URL will be shortened and the domain part is removed automatically.
Do you want the widget to show on the entire site but not on the homepage, just add the rule “Don’t show” – Select Rule “Homepage” and that’s it.
What else can you use page targeting for?
Basically, you can target anything based on the URLs of your website pages.
As long as the rules don’t conflict with one another, you can have as many as you like.
Remember that in order to prevent overlapping widgets, you must ensure that each widget is configured properly if you have more than one.
Don’t forget to hit “Save Widget” once finished to save your work. Your Chaty widget will only now be visible on the specified page(s) in accordance with the rules you have added! You can always view and edit the widget from your Widgets section. Finally, depending on your settings and customizations, it may look like this:
